Construction Difficulties of Geomembrane at Special Parts of the Site

time:29 7 月, 2025 Views:36

The laying and welding of geomembrane at the intersection of slopes are special cases. Diaphragms within irregular areas, such as corners, should be cut into an “inverted trapezoid” shape, with a smaller upper width and a smaller lower width (Note: There seems to be an error in the original text where it says “upper width small, lower width small” twice; here it is interpreted as the intended meaning of an inverted trapezoid with different upper and lower widths). Special treatment is also required at the slope toe where the channel slope connects to the site bottom. Throughout the construction process, for areas that need repair after sampling and locations where normal welding cannot be carried out, construction rules should be formulated based on the actual on-site conditions, and special techniques should be adopted for construction.

There are many situations in the geomembrane construction process that are easily overlooked or difficult to handle. If we deal with these situations casually or neglect them during construction, it will pose potential risks to the entire anti-seepage project. Therefore, geomembrane manufacturers remind us of the construction difficulties of geomembrane at special parts of the site.

1. The laying and welding of geomembrane at the intersection of slopes are special cases. Diaphragms within irregular areas, such as corners, should be cut into an “inverted trapezoid” shape. Operators should accurately calculate the width-to-height ratio according to the actual on-site conditions and the specific dimensions of the slope. If the ratio is not correctly determined, the film surface on the slope will “bulge” or “hang”.

2. Special treatment is also required at the slope toe where the channel slope connects to the site bottom. The construction key points in this situation are as follows: The film on the slope should be laid along the slope and extend 1.5 m away from the slope toe, and then be welded with the film at the site bottom.

3. Throughout the construction process, for areas that need repair after sampling and locations where normal welding cannot be carried out, construction rules should be formulated based on the actual on-site conditions, and special techniques should be adopted for construction. For example, the secondary welding of “T-shaped” and “double T-shaped” welds belongs to welding at special positions.
