How to achieve anti-seepage of geomembrane

The key to anti-seepage of geomembrane lies in its material properties, construction method and joint treatment. The following are some common methods and practices to achieve the anti-seepage performance of geomembrane:

Material selection: It is very important to select the appropriate geomembrane material. High-density polyethylene (HDPE) geomembranes usually have good anti-seepage performance and chemical stability. Ensure that materials are selected that comply with regulations and engineering requirements to meet the seepage prevention needs of a specific project.

Construction method: The correct construction process is crucial to the anti-seepage performance of the geomembrane. Before construction, make sure that the construction site is flat, and remove sharp objects and sharp stones that may cause damage to the geomembrane.

Geomembrane laying: The geomembrane should be completely laid on the ground and in good contact with the ground. Make sure that the surface of the geomembrane is smooth, free of wrinkles and air bubbles, and use appropriate stretching and fixing methods to make it cling to the ground.

Seam Preparation: Seam preparation of geomembranes is a critical step used to prevent leak paths. Common seam preparation methods include welding, heat fusion, bonding, and mechanical fixing. Ensures seams are strong, airtight, watertight and tear resistant.

Geomembrane protective layer: After the geomembrane is laid, it can be covered with a protective layer, such as sand, coarse sand, gravel, etc. The purpose of the protective layer is to protect the geomembrane from physical damage and UV radiation during construction and use, while providing additional protection and stability.

Quality control and inspection: Quality control and inspection should be carried out during the construction process, including checking the thickness, quality and integrity of the joints of the geomembrane. If necessary, hydrostatic testing or other non-destructive testing methods can be carried out to verify the anti-seepage performance of the geomembrane.

To sum up, choosing the appropriate geomembrane material, and adopting the correct construction method and joint treatment method are the key to realize the anti-seepage of geomembrane. Reasonable quality control and testing can also ensure that the anti-seepage performance of the geomembrane meets the engineering requirements.

What tools are needed for geomembrane laying?

Bulldozer or Excavator: Used to clear construction areas, level substrates, and move and adjust substrate materials such as fill or gravel.

Level meter: used to check and ensure the horizontal laying of geomembrane to maintain the accuracy of construction.

Reel equipment: It is used to unroll and roll the geomembrane from the reel, which is convenient for operation during laying.

Cutting tools: such as knives, scissors, or electric cutters, are used to adjust the size and shape of the geomembrane as required.

Tensile device: used to apply tensile force to ensure that the geomembrane remains tense and flat during laying.

Fixing device: such as ground nails, mulch clips or anti-slip nails, etc., used to fix the geomembrane to prevent it from moving or loosening.

Hot-melt equipment: used for hot-melt seams on geomembranes to ensure the firmness and sealing of the seams.

Cleaning tools: such as brooms, brushes and cleaning cloths, etc., are used to remove debris and dust on the surface of the geomembrane to keep the construction area clean.

Testing instruments: such as thickness gauges, weld testers or hydraulic testing equipment, etc., are used to test the quality and anti-seepage performance of geomembranes.
