Tips for Moisture-Proof Storage of Geotextiles

time:07 7 月, 2025 Views:90

I. Selection of Storage Location

1. Choose a Dry Place

Geotextiles should be stored in a dry area, avoiding areas with accumulated water. For example, a relatively dry corner inside a warehouse can be selected for storing geotextiles. This helps prevent the geotextiles from getting damp due to prolonged exposure to moisture.

2. Avoid Low-Lying Areas

Do not store geotextiles in low-lying areas to prevent rainwater backflow or ground moisture from affecting them. For instance, when stored in an open场地 (open area), keep them away from low-lying areas with poor drainage.

II. Covering Protection

1. Use Waterproof Coverings

Cover the geotextiles with waterproof materials, such as plastic films. After the geotextiles are stacked, cover them entirely with a layer of plastic film and press down the edges with heavy objects to prevent moisture from entering.

2. Shield from Sunlight and Protect from Moisture

Cover the geotextiles with opaque materials. This not only prevents aging caused by ultraviolet rays but also provides a certain degree of moisture protection. For example, using black plastic tarpaulins for covering can block sunlight and resist rainwater and moisture.

III. Stacking Method

1. Control Stacking Height

When stacking rolls of geotextiles, the stack height should not exceed the height of four rolls. This avoids excessive pressure on the bottom geotextiles due to over-stacking, which may lead to local deformation, moisture absorption, and other issues. At the same time, it facilitates inspection and management of the geotextile rolls, ensuring that labels and information remain intact.

2. Use Pallets

Do not place geotextiles directly on the ground. Instead, use pallets for storage. The pallets can be made of wood or plastic. This keeps the geotextiles separated from the ground, preventing ground moisture from侵蚀 (eroding) the geotextiles.

IV. Regular Inspection and Maintenance

1. Conduct Regular Checks

Regularly inspect the storage condition of the geotextiles. Check whether the coverings are intact and free from damage or being blown open by the wind. If any problems are found, repair and re-cover them promptly to ensure that the geotextiles are always in a good moisture-proof environment.

2. Monitor Humidity in the Storage Environment

Place a hygrometer at the storage location. When the humidity is high, take timely measures such as ventilation or adding moisture-proof measures, for example, using dehumidification equipment.
