How thick should the geomembrane be for fish ponds?

Many farmers and fishermen are accustomed to calling it a waterproof membrane.

Laying geomembranes for fish pond waterproofing can help control water quality, facilitate easy cleaning, prevent the residual accumulation of harmful and toxic bacteria, and also protect embankments from being undermined by waves.

Generally, fish ponds use geomembranes in three specifications: 0.4mm, 0.5mm, and 0.6mm. Friends in the south often refer to the thickness of the membrane as 40 mils, 50 mils, and 60 mils respectively. (Note: “mil” here is a unit commonly used in some regions to denote thousandths of an inch, where 1 mil = 0.0254mm, but in this context, it’s used colloquially to represent the thickness in a way similar to “丝” in Chinese, which is a non-standard but commonly understood unit for thickness in some Chinese-speaking areas, roughly equivalent to 0.01mm. However, for clarity in international contexts, it’s better to stick with the metric millimeter measurements or provide a clear conversion if using non-standard units.)
