Steps for sewing seams of geotextile

Geotextile sewing seams are seams processed on the surface of the geotextile to achieve the functions of geotextile connection and anti-seepage. This method is often used in engineering applications such as creating large-area geotextile coverings, isolation layers or reinforcement layers.

Here are the general steps for sewing seams in geotextiles:

Preparation: Select suitable geotextile materials. Common materials include polyester (PET) and polypropylene (PP). Select the appropriate geotextile type and specification according to project needs. Prepare suitable sewing thread and sewing tools as required.

Locating and marking: Use a marking tool to mark the location of the seams on the geotextile to be seamed. Measurements and markings can be made using a ruler, scissors, or chalk.

Sewing preparation: Align the edges of the geotextile to be seamed and secure them together using clamps or similar fixing tools. Make sure the edges are aligned accurately to facilitate subsequent sewing operations.

Sewing operation: Pass the sewing thread through one layer of geotextile and perform sewing operation on the seam mark line. This can be done using a sewing machine or a special sewing needle. Use appropriate sewing methods and ensure that the seams are secure and the stitches are even.

Sewing quality control: During the sewing process, it is necessary to ensure that the tension of the suture is appropriate and not too tight or too loose. At the same time, check the stability and quality of the sutures to avoid thread breakage, loose threads, or uneven threads.

Sewing seam treatment: After finishing sewing, inspect and treat the seams. Hot melt welding or special adhesives are usually used to enhance the sealing and firmness of the joints. Ensure that the anti-seepage performance of the joints meets the requirements.

Inspection and maintenance: Inspect the completed geotextile sewing seams to ensure the firmness and anti-seepage effect of the seam lines. Also check the entire geotextile surface to make sure there are no other damaged or loose areas.

Geotextile sewing seams are a common method of joining geotextiles and are suitable for large area geotextile applications.

It has the advantages of flexible construction and high strength, and can effectively realize the functions of geotextile connection and soil anti-seepage.

However, in actual operation, it is necessary to pay attention to operating specifications to ensure the quality and performance of seam lines, and to select appropriate seam treatment methods according to different engineering needs and material characteristics.
